glitz and glam

There is nothing like sequins and glitter for the New Year!
Let’s be honest, I do own quite a few sequined dresses and tops...but this year instead of dressing head to toe in sequins...I am all about subtly accessorizing with chunky jewelry and these other glitzy pieces. Enjoy!

Has anyone seen where Christmas went?

Holy Moly... I cannot believe how quick Christmas went by! I loved every part of it - being home with family, the presents, the day trips, the tree’s and the FOOD...OMG the food!!!  Here is a quick recap of my 2011 Holiday.
P.S. I got a new camera from don’t judge my camera skills too hard.

DIY | Fabric Garland & Polaroid Ornaments

Here is a double dose of some easy Holiday projects that have been happening around my house today!

POLAROID ORNAMENTS: My second tree was looking a little bare so I found some old polaroids of my grandparents and mom opening presents and playing in the snow and clipped them on the tree with cloths pins! Simple and unique!

FABRIC GARLAND: I needed some Christmas sparkle in my tiny kitchen so I took to one of my Pinterest finds to be inspired!  All you need is a strand of lights, scrap ribbon and tulle!
Easy Peasy!

I’m dreaming of a PINK Christmas!

Here is a peek at my borrowed PINK Christmas tree...

This season I am sticking with a gold and silver color scheme with a pop of some unconventional colors such as pink and turquoise.  It’s girly and fun...and I am kinda in love with it!  Gathering all things silver and gold, I stumbled upon some of my grandmother's vintage brooches/ earrings and decided to use them as ornaments.  Another fun DIY ornament project is using pine cones - all you need is a hot glue gun, ribbon or string and you have a cute natural addition to your tree.  If you want to get extra fancy with it you can also spray paint or sprinkle glitter on the pine cones.
More holiday pictures and DIY ideas to come...

P.S. Thanks goes to the best neighbor ever for letting me borrow the tree and steal the pine cone orament idea!

Crank Up the Christmas Music

FINALLY...I can start listening to Christmas music! I don’t know what it is about this year, but I have felt like listening to it since Halloween. Maybe it has something to do with having my own place to decorate!?!  Anywhooo we have gone through all of the traditional Christmas parades, fireworks, bonfires, tree picking and lighting’s - so I am READY.
Bring on Christmas, Snow and Santa!
Can’t wait!

So Thankful!

“For twenty-one years, I have never once been able to use my rearview mirror on the way up to the mountains,” exclaimed my dad this morning as we all pile into the car for our Thanksgiving vacation.  Yes, we pack too much, but then again you never know what you may need... right?!?  We cook, eat, shop, relax and eat even more ALL is one of my favorite holidays. Whether you spend the evening in velour pajamas (got to love some elastic) or in a fabulous cocktail long as you're with the ones you love, how could things be any better?!?!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Some Much Needed Table Top Love

And the putzing around continues...

I just love playing with my new house things... and it is all too pretty not to be photographed!  Pairing an old frame and some mason jars, I think that the centerpiece adds a POP to my boring white table.

The Metrolina Expo was this weekend... note the “...” it is very important.

If you talked to me early this week I was sooooo excited about finding fun, inexpensive furniture to put in my new place HOWEVER all I came out with was two frames and some tea cups!  I totally jinxed myself.  I have had such good luck for the past two years...I mean GAH I found my kitchen table and my vanity last year and the year before that I got my sofa (which is sitting in front of me uncovered...I should probably get on that.)  Of course I still had fun and got some great ideas; I love everything about the Expo - the atmosphere, the smells, the haggling, and the crazy characters.

...Knock on wood that I find some bigger stuff next time!
